I am based in Abington, Northampton where I am very keen to continue to
develop printmaking techniques using non-toxic materials. I have taught
for many years in a range of schools and colleges working with
children, young people and adults. Printmaking is an exciting process
which enables people of all abilities to experiment with shape, colour
and texture to create captivating images and explore ideas at all
levels. As well as introducing printmaking techniques to groups, my own
work is based on building images from fragments and memories. Working
as an archaeological illustrator I became fascinated by the mapping and
recording of everyday domestic items as well as remnants of grand and
important buildings. The sense of discovery in handling these artefacts
is always thrilling, and I hope to convey some of these ideas in my
prints. I will be offering opportunities for visitors to take part in
making a three colour print using an etching press this will be on a
continuous basis throughout the day, or for those who would like the
opportunity to work on, and develop a more complex Gum Arabic printing
technique there will be 1 hour workshops at a cost of £3.50 to cover
materials. These will need to be booked in advance.’ Please check the
on-line calendar at www.openstudios.org.uk for days and times |
